Sunday will now go down as one of many amazing days I have had in my life, my little book, my little idea, my little project was officially launched by Kidney Health Australia at a Kidney Capers Family Fun Day Function at Newfarm Park Brisbane.
My mad weekend mission to Brisbane was to be one of many surprises, the first one being meeting the John girls, Sue, Beccky and Tara it was soooooo good to me you! Next was meeting two wonderful people from PlanBig who came from Adelaide and Melbs to give out some balloons, interview me and show some support & get some well deserved presence! Jeanette (the big boss) and Michelle Thank you xo (miss you PlanBig already :/)
So the day went on and I got to mingle and chat to so many amazing people, Dr Mc T came along and so did Kerryn, Sean and Tayla along with some other families who are in the book, Nina as always was so kind in letting all the media focus on her twins Hamish and Jack. The Johns girls, Marieta, Dan and Phil, as always last but not least Vicki mwah! A big thank you to my dear friend Jenny who drove me all over, thank you, it was great to hang out and catch up!
To KHA, what a great day, I was very impressed and I can't wait for my Josh to be big enough to attend such great activities that KHA put together for these kids! To Beth for your very kind words that you spoke of me and the book, I was really moved, because everything you said is so much more than I could of ever wished for the book to mean to so many different people.
To Annie, thank you for the beautiful voicemail, I heard it when I got off the plane in Wagga, I was already a bit teary, but your kind words just filled my heart with even more pride.
I am now working with Tonia on some national PR and a 3 month campaign to get the book out there, so that should be fun, however as I say in the book, life isn't always kidneys and doom and gloom so I must move on, so many people have asked me what will I do next and if you don't know it already I am very busy with my new business 365cups.com (cough cough plug plug!) and most importantly Josh, who is now on the countdown for Transplant, never a dull moment for the Eykes family.
I will post some pictures later as they come in, but for now I will leave the blog for a while and again decide if I will retire it, or keep it for when we do transplant and a place to vent when I have bad days at hospital! If you want me or need me or if I can help you with anything, you know where to find me (simone AT joshuajam DOT com) until next time...that's a wrap xo
